VOLUNTEER

Volunteer

Interested in volunteering at Wild Horse Productions?

There are over 500 people who volunteer some of their time at WHP.

Some of those have been at the theatre since we began and there

are some who have just joined this year.

SO WHY WOULD I WANT TO GET INVOLVED?

Here are some reasons:

  • Learn a new skill. For example, building sets, making props, sewing, work backstage on the tech crew, learn how to run lights and sound, leadership, organization. There are many opportunities where no prior skill is required.

  • Have a sense of accomplishment. There’s nothing better than to see a show open that you know you had a hand in getting off the ground.

  • Make new friends. There are plenty of friendly people who will always greet you with a smile and are happy to see you.

  • Spend quality time with your family, or away from them

  • Community Service. Perhaps you just want to “give back” to the community you’ve grown up in (or are new to). We can provide documentation if you are volunteering for extra credit in school or at work.

Here are some of the volunteer opportunities we have available:

Set Building/Costumes/Props:

  • Set assembly and construction (design, woodwork, metalwork, painting, etc)

  • Costume construction (design, sewing, altering, etc)

  • Prop making/Prop Manager

  • Set Load-in and strike (moving the set pieces in and out of the theater)

Backstage during productions:

  • Assistant Stage Manager

  • Props crew member

  • Light crew member (including follow spotlight operators)

  • Sound crew member

  • Dresser crew member

Helping patrons during shows:

  • Ushers

  • Ticket Sales/Ticket Takers

  • Concessions crew member

WHO DO I CONTACT FOR MORE INFORMATION?

If you’re new to the theatre the best place to start is working on a show as one of the crew members (props, lights, sound, running, dressing) or to work as an usher (handing out playbills, showing patrons their seats).  Just email us and let us know you are interested!  If you have a special skill or area of interest, let us know and we will try and assign you to that area

If you need more information about volunteering, Email Carol Scott at whctonstage@gmail.com.
